Marital Roles

Husband Authority

Spiritual Authority comes from your relationship with God

He called his Disciples together and gave them Power and Authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. The power in your prayers are the power of God working through you, you are inviting God to exercise His power in your wife's life and your family life. --Luke 9:1

Luke 18.1 " Men always ought to pray and not lose heart" Remember this belongs to God if you will give it to Him, and He will work for you and through you. --Luke 18:1

HUSBAND: LEADER (1 Corinthians 11:3)

The burden of final leadership responsibility for the outcome of his family lies with the husband. A man who exercises, in love, the authority given him by God will bring strength and stability to his wife and family. Led of the Spirit and directed by the Father, you are to be an example of standing firm despite the circumstances. You are to resist the enemy, not your family, and to treat what the Lord speaks to your wife with the same respect that you treat what you personally receive from Him (Luke 8:22-25; Luke 9:23; Josh 24:15).

Jesus sacrificed Himself for the church, but He did more than that. He taught, He fostered, and He lived as an example. I feel like I should do that in my own family. I do okay as a leader in some areas, although I continue to learn more every day. But I run into problems in the spiritual arena. How do I foster spiritual health in my wife and family? I don't know that I should be held completely accountable for her relationship with God, but shouldn't I be providing an environment conducive to growth? Shouldn't I try to give her the tools she needs to learn? Shouldn't I exercise faith in my own life so that she can see how faith works? I'm sure I should, but I also have the nagging feeling that there's a lot more to it that I'm not even aware of.

May you be blessed every day.
